**Short answer:** right-click a horizontal line or the price scale and choose **Add alert**, set the condition (for example "crossing"), choose how you want to be notified, and click **Create**. The free plan includes a few price alerts (3 at the time of writing), which is enough for your key levels.

## Step by step

1. Draw a horizontal line at your level, or hover the price scale at the price you want.
2. Right-click and choose **Add alert**, or press **Alt + A**.
3. Set the condition: **Crossing** is the simplest.
4. Choose notifications: on-screen popup, sound, the mobile app, or email.
5. Click **Create**.

## Alerts worth setting

- Yesterday's high and low
- The overnight high and low
- The level where your setup would trigger

With only a few alerts on the free plan, pick the levels that matter most. See [the best TradingView settings for day trading](https://www.daytraderincome.com/tradingview-settings-for-day-trading/).

## Why alerts help

Staring at a chart waiting for something to happen is how people [overtrade](https://www.daytraderincome.com/how-to-stop-overtrading/). Set the alert, step away, and only look when price reaches your level.
