**Short answer:** start on the free plan. It has everything you need to learn: full charts, drawing tools and a paper trading account. Upgrade when you hit a real limit, and for futures day traders that usually means two things: **real-time CME data** and **intraday Bar Replay**. Both need a paid plan.

## What the free plan includes

- Full charts in your browser, on stocks, futures, forex and crypto
- One chart per tab and up to two indicators per chart
- Drawing tools and alerts
- A free paper trading account
- Bar Replay on daily, weekly and monthly charts

## The free plan's limits that matter to day traders

- **Delayed futures data.** CME futures like NQ, MNQ and ES are delayed about 10 minutes on the free plan. Fine for learning the platform; not fine for trading the open in real time.
- **No intraday replay.** You can't replay a 5-minute chart on the free plan, which is the most useful way to practice when the market's closed.
- **One chart per tab.** Most day traders are fine with this. Some like a higher timeframe beside their trading chart.
- **Ads.**

## What the paid plans add

TradingView's paid plans step up in tiers. Roughly, each tier adds more charts per tab, more indicators per chart, more alerts and more history, and the paid tiers unlock intraday Bar Replay. Paid plans also let you add real-time exchange data. For futures, that's a separate CME data add-on on top of the plan, priced for non-professional users.

Annual billing is cheaper than monthly, and TradingView runs sales during the year.

## Which plan should you get?

- **Brand new:** free. Learn the platform, practice on paper, and run [the Paper Route](https://www.daytraderincome.com/paper-route/) for 30 sessions.
- **Committed and practicing every day:** the entry paid plan is usually enough. It unlocks intraday Bar Replay, so you can rehearse dozens of sessions in a weekend.
- **Trading futures live:** add real-time CME data so you see the market as it happens.
- **Running several monitors and lots of indicators:** a higher tier. Most day traders don't need it.

The honest rule: don't pay for features to feel like a trader. Pay when the free plan is actually stopping you from practicing.
