- Description: On TradingView's free plan, CME futures like NQ and ES are delayed about 10 minutes. Here's why, how to tell, and what real-time data takes.

**Short answer:** exchanges like the CME charge for real-time data, so TradingView shows CME futures (NQ, MNQ, ES and others) about 10 minutes delayed on the free plan. To see them in real time you need a paid TradingView plan plus a real-time CME data subscription, priced lower for non-professional users.

## How to tell if your chart is delayed

TradingView marks delayed data on the chart, usually with a "D" or a "delayed" label near the symbol name. If price on your chart lags what you see elsewhere by several minutes, that's why.

## Does delayed data matter?

- **For learning the platform:** no. Orders, brackets, drawing levels and logging all work the same.
- **For practicing your setup:** a little. Your paper fills happen on the delayed feed, so the practice is consistent, just not in sync with the live open.
- **For trading real money:** yes. You need to see the market as it happens.

## How to get real-time CME data

1. Upgrade to a paid [TradingView](https://www.tradingview.com/?aff%5Fid=1173482&ref=daytraderincome.com) (affiliate link) plan. Data subscriptions can't be added on the free plan.
2. Add the CME real-time data package and confirm you're a **non-professional** user if that's true for you; the non-pro price is much lower.

Check TradingView's own pricing page for current costs. Which plan makes sense: [TradingView free vs paid](https://www.daytraderincome.com/tradingview-free-vs-paid/).

## My take

Start on the free plan with delayed data while you learn. Pay for real-time data when you're showing up every session and ready to practice the open in real time. Not on day one.
