Practice After Hours with Bar Replay
The market is only open so many hours. Bar Replay lets you rehearse your setup on past days, candle by candle, on weekends and evenings.
How it works
- On your chart in TradingView (affiliate link), click Replay in the top toolbar.
- Click a point on a past day. Everything after it is hidden.
- Press play, or step forward one candle at a time.
- When your setup appears, decide: trade or no trade, entry, stop, target. Then reveal what happened.
What's free and what isn't
- On the free Basic plan, Bar Replay works on daily charts and higher. That's useful for practicing reading trend and levels.
- Replaying intraday charts, like the 5-minute chart you trade on, needs a paid plan. Higher plans keep more intraday history to replay.
If you're committed to the route, intraday replay is the single most useful upgrade: you can rehearse dozens of sessions in a weekend instead of waiting for them. Check TradingView's pricing page for which plan includes what.
Log replay trades separately
Trades placed during Bar Replay aren't saved to your paper account. Keep them in a separate part of your log, marked "replay", and don't mix them into your 30 live sessions. Replay is practice; the live sessions are the test.
A good replay routine
- Pick a day at random so you can't remember what happened.
- Trade only your written setup.
- Five replayed sessions in a sitting, then stop.
Your task
Replay at least three past days and log every decision as "replay". Then keep going with your live paper sessions until you reach 30, and go to lesson 12.
